Explain the application
Describe the installation and the problem the custom section needs to solve. Include photos, a sketch or a reference assembly. Identify the surfaces, adjacent components and visible edges that affect the design.
Provide a dimensioned drawing
Share the section drawing and required lengths. Mark the dimensions that are critical to fit and distinguish them from dimensions that may be reviewed. If you have tolerance requirements, state them explicitly and request feasibility confirmation rather than assuming a standard tolerance applies.
Specify the finish and components
Describe the intended colour and surface finish, with a reference sample if available. Include diffuser and accessory requirements, cable entry details and the proposed LED strip. Ask which elements can be supplied together and which require a separate review.
Set out the order requirements
State the initial quantity, any expected repeat-order needs, delivery destination and requested schedule. Add labelling, packing and inspection requirements. These details help make the quotation specific to your order; availability and lead time still need confirmation.
Agree on approval before production
Ask the supplier to separate tooling or development items from production pricing where applicable. Confirm the drawing revision, sample requirements and approval steps. Keep a record of the agreed specification and any open questions before authorising production.
